On November 8th, 2018, the Camp Fire in Butte County, CA swept through Paradise and its surrounding communities, destroying Lightfoot Horse Farm. While our riding arena and part of our barn survived, everything else was significantly damaged or completely destroyed, including the home of Lightfoot Horse Farm's owner. In addition, two of Lightfoot Horse Farm’s horses were burned in the fire. Both horses received extensive veterinary care, but sadly, while ZaZa made a full recovery, Dippi succumbed to her injuries. Dippi's story can be read by Clicking Here.
In 2021, Lightfoot Horse Farm re-opened at its new location just 12 miles north of Chico. The new property is 10.5 acres, with a barn and 3 large paddocks, and includes a round pen and riding trails, both on the property and just adjacent to it. A stud barn was added in 2023 as well as a much larger tack room.
Unbelievably, on July 24, 2024, Lightfoot Horse Farm sustained some damage from the Park Fire. However, we are determined to keep moving forward and offering lessons! We are rebuilding and recovering and in late 2026, a 120' by 60' covered arena will be completed!
We are currently accepting new students for our horsemanship program. Thank you!
